PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

One thing I learned this year is that there is a difference between knowing it and getting it.” - Mackenzie Peters, 2023 Graduate

This line has stuck with me ever since Mackenzie shared it in his graduation speech last month. It sticks with me because I think it gets to the heart of what we are all about at Mount Carmel. We are about helping students “get it”. We are less interested in helping students simply know about God and instead strive to help students actually know Him. It’s the difference between memorizing a list of do’s and don’ts and having your heart transformed by God’s goodness and grace. Our theme verse this past year was 2 Corinthians 5:15: “He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” The verse is focused on the principle that once you “get it”, once you understand what Jesus did, your life no longer centers on yourself, but on Him.

Through classes, chapels, scripture reading, service opportunities, trips, and community, we had the privilege of watching this year’s students encounter God and “get it”.  On the next page you will read reflections on the year from each of our students. We hope their words give you a taste of what God was up to this year and provide a small snapshot into the lives that were changed. Thank you for your part in this! As you read these short reflections, please join us in praying for these individuals and celebrating the work God continues to do in their lives.

FINANCES

Thank you! Through your generous support we were able to operate and pay our staff in full this year.  For those unfamiliar with our ministry, student tuition covers only a small portion of our operating costs. We strongly believe tuition should be affordable and that high quality education and discipleship should be accessible for all. As a result, we are highly dependent on individual donors and are extremely grateful for the generosity of the churches and individuals who make up our community.

Currently, we are approximately 10% behind our budget on contributions for this fiscal year. To help us reduce this deficit, we are hoping to raise $20,000 by the end of June. If you, or someone you know, has been impacted by the ministry of Mount Carmel, we ask you to prayerfully consider partnering with us by signing up as one of our monthly donors or by sending a one-time gift by June 30.

Details on giving options can be found online at www.mountcarmel.net/donate or by scanning the code to the right. If you have any questions about our finances, please contact our office. Thank you for your support.

CAMP TEAM

Spencer, Mackenzie, Zach, Julia & Abi

We are once again sending our Mount Carmel Camp Team to serve at various Bible camps this summer. This summer, our team will provide much needed staff at seven different camps throughout Alberta. Additionally, camp team is a way for our graduating students to "pass on" what they have learned at Carmel by serving, teaching and leading others. The team consists of Zach Froehlick (leader), Julia McKellar, Mackenzie Peters, Spencer Stewart and Abi Sturge.

Please pray for our team to love campers well this summer and for wisdom, energy, and health for our team. While Mount Carmel pays each of these individuals a small stipend, they are volunteers who are raising their own support. We therefore welcome donations marked "Camp Team" to support our team.

STUDENT REFLECTIONS on the past year

WE ARE ALMOST FULL!

For years you have been working hard with us, trying to get the word out about Mount Carmel. Thank you! We are extremely excited about the large influx of student applications we have received for this fall. Currently, we only have a few spots left in our program and it looks like 2023-2024 will be the largest class Mount Carmel has had in 20 years.

Please join us in celebrating God’s faithfulness over the years and in praying for the incoming class of 2023-2024. As always, please continue to join us in encouraging the young people in your life to take their faith seriously and to consider dedicating a year to intentional discipleship.

WE ARE HIRING

Due to the influx of incoming students, we are currently accepting applications for two ministry interns for the 2023-24 school year.  If you are passionate about discipling students while also developing your skills in a ministry context, please consider applying!  Click here for more details on the role and how to apply.  Application closing date is July 8, 2023.
